Meet David Sabella, a vocalist, author, educator, and an award winning performer. He appeared both on and off Broadway - perhaps most notably as “Mary Sunshine” in the 1996 revival of “CHICAGO, the Musical” alongside Bebe Neuwirth, the late Ann Reinking, and Joel Grey. David is also a single dad raising teens.

In each Gay Parent Magazine-New York we feature a list of parent support groups for the tri-state area. This year we highlight LGBT Network’s Families Program. Based on Long Island and Queens, the LGBT Network offers a multitude of services for those wanting to start a family and those already raising children. This active organization offers family building assistance and socialization for families.

A bill to legalize gestational surrogacy in New York became law this year. This new law will make it easier for New Yorkers wanting to raise biological children. Senator Brad Hoylman was the lead sponsor. Hoylman and his husband are proud parents of two children through surrogacy.

New York City Public school teacher Ali Rothlizzi writes, "Concern about the end of times has plagued me since I looked around as a kid and thought there is just no way this can possibly last...Somehow though, life caught hold of me and I managed to move beyond the fear, and find my fair share of bliss along the way. That is, until 2020." Rothlizzi looks back at 2020 and how her family is managing with the pandemic.
